Last night Vito mentioned often his concern about whether his artwork was "current," or of the time, etc. 1968 vs. 1972.
A couple years ago. Marina Abramovic "re-performed" 5 performances from other artists that were important to her. One of these was Seed Bed. (she also did Chris Burden's Cruxificion). how did these re-performances update the pieces, now in the context of the 21st century, performed by a woman, in the Guggenhiem (i think?) She said she paided the artists in the same way a symphony would pay performance rights to a piece of music.
